Death mask of President John Tyler (1790-1862), molded in Richmond a day or so after his death in the Exchange Hotel on January 18, 1862. The mask was damaged at Sherwood Forest, the Tyler residence, by Federal soldiers during the Civil War. Fragments were retrived by members of the Tyler household.
